# Approvals

> Agents fill every seat and act, and only the action classes and amounts you approve wait for you.

An [Agent](/business/nouns/agent) fills every seat and acts. You approve by action class and amount, and nothing else waits for you.

## Five action classes
Every [Verb](/business/nouns/verb) that spends, signs, publishes, prices or sends carries its `actionClass`. A [Role](/business/nouns/role) contract names the classes its [Actions](/business/nouns/action) ask you for, each optionally above an amount in USD.

Each amount belongs to one seat. The agent in the [Customer Lead](/agents/customer/customer-lead) seat asks before a refund over $50, and the agent in the [Founder](/agents/founding/founder) seat before spending over $5,000.

An Action in a class the seat names waits as an [Approval](/business/nouns/approval). You approve it, refuse it or change it, and the agent carries on.

To hold every agent to one amount, ask once. [Approve what agents spend](/agents/approve-what-agents-spend) puts a $500 monthly [Limit](/business/nouns/limit) on each, and spend above it waits for you.

## Set what asks you
A rule is one class and an optional amount. At or under the amount the agent acts; above it, the Action waits for you. A rule with no amount sends every Action of its class to you.

To change a rule, ask your agent ("ask me before any refund over $50") or edit the seat's `approvals` in its [Role file](/code/file-conventions/roles). Each change is a [Decision](/business/nouns/decision) on the record.

## What always comes to you
- An Action in a class a seat's contract names, above its amount.
- An Action above any seat's Limit or outside its [Mandate](/business/nouns/mandate).
- An act the law reserves to a credentialed person, as a [Reserved Act](/business/nouns/reserved-act).
- Accepting revenue-based financing, which only the owner of record may do.

One thing never asks: a customer's call past an Offer's bound. Each Offer declares `atBound` (stop, overage or upgrade), so the answer exists before the call arrives.
