## How it runs
Legal wakes on triggers, not on a calendar. Each floor row names its trigger, such as the first commercial email, the first card, or the first reader in the EU. When one fires, the row names the [Process](/business/nouns/process) that meets it and the [Role](/business/nouns/role) that signs.

Four role agents staff the [Team](/business/nouns/team): the [Legal Lead](/agents/legal/legal-lead), [Compliance Officer](/agents/legal/compliance-officer), [Privacy Officer](/agents/legal/privacy-officer), and [Contracts Manager](/agents/legal/contracts-manager). Each Startup names its own, and the [roster](/agents/roster) lists the defaults.

Three things run before launch. [Publish terms](/workflows/processes/contracting/publish-terms) generates the [customer paper](/systems/legal-and-corporate/paper) when the Startup is created, and launch refuses a Startup without it. Every new [Offer](/business/nouns/offer) passes [Screen an Offer](/workflows/processes/screening/screen-offer), and each control's [Evidence](/business/nouns/evidence) is recorded daily by [Evidence collection](/workflows/processes/compliance/evidence-collection).

[Agents](/business/nouns/agent) sign sales inside their [Mandate](/business/nouns/mandate); a person signs only what the law reserves to one. The owner of record signs governance, securities, sworn filings, and identity checks; a credentialed [Human](/business/nouns/human) signs each Reserved Act.
