> A Role Review checks one seat against its contract for a week or a month: its results, its standards, and the rung it keeps.

A [Role Review](/business/nouns/role-review) checks one seat against its [Role](/business/nouns/role) contract for a period. It judges the seat, not whoever sits in it, so an agent and a person in the same Role are reviewed by the same rules.

## What it checks
A call to [`Role.review`](/business/nouns/role/review) reads three parts of the contract and records one Role Review.

| Part | The question | Where the answer comes from |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Results | Did each result [Metric](/business/nouns/metric) meet its target? | The Metrics the Role owns, for the period |
| How well | Did the seat hold every standard in its contract? | The record of every [Action](/business/nouns/action) and [Task](/business/nouns/task) in the period |
| Rung | Which autonomy rung does it keep? | The two answers above, and its [Evaluators](/business/nouns/evaluator) |

The review ends with at most one change it asks for, such as "answer weekend chats within 30 minutes". You accept it as a change to the contract, or leave the contract as it is.

## What it changes
A missed standard moves the seat down one autonomy rung at once. A seat moves up only when its Evaluators agree, on the record [the autonomy ladder](/agents/autonomy#how-a-seat-climbs) describes.

Every review is kept, and none is edited later. A seat's history of reviews is the evidence for every rung it holds and every change to its contract.

## When it runs
The [Founder](/agents/founding/founder) reviews any seat on request. The [Role review](/workflows/processes/role-review) [Process](/business/nouns/process) reviews every filled seat each week, and the founder reads only the misses.

## Example
Leaseline's [Customer Lead](/agents/customer/customer-lead) misses one standard in week 43: four weekend chats waited more than an hour. Its results hold, so the review moves weekend chats down to `supervised` and asks for one change, a 30-minute weekend standard.
