# Send email as me

> Connect your email and LinkedIn, let an Agent send as you, approve its first sends, and pause it at once.

An [Agent](/business/nouns/agent) drafts and sends as you once you connect your own accounts and grant it a [Mandate](/business/nouns/mandate). You stay the principal and author of record, see every send in your name, and can stop it at once.

## Prerequisites
- A seat as a [Human](/business/nouns/human) in a [Startup](/business/nouns/startup), and an Agent to send for you, such as its [Sales Lead](/agents/sales/sales-lead) or your [personal agent](/agents/personal-agents).
- The CLI, `npx startup-builder`.

The examples follow the founder of `tallyfox.com`, which automates month-end close for bookkeeping firms at $199 a month. She delegates follow-ups with firms she has met.

## Steps
1. To connect your email, run `connect` and sign in to your mail account in the browser it opens:

   ```bash
   npx startup-builder connect email
   ```

   ```text
   Connected mailbox_4   maya@tallyfox.com   held by human_1 (you)
   ```

   Each account you connect becomes a [Channel](/business/nouns/channel) held by you. An email account is a [Mailbox](/business/nouns/mailbox).

2. To connect LinkedIn, run the same command for it:

   ```bash
   npx startup-builder connect linkedin
   ```

3. To preview the grant, authorize the Mandate in the `try` [Mode](/business/nouns/mode). Scope it by Channel, volume and topics, and set the approval rule for one-way sends:

   ```bash
   LIMIT=$(npx startup-builder do Limit.create --json '{"count":40,"period":"day"}' | jq -r '.limit["$id"] | split("/") | last')
   npx startup-builder do Mandate.authorize --try --json '{
     "agent": "agent_sales_lead",
     "for": "human_1",
     "verb": "Message.create",
     "channels": ["mailbox_4", "channel_5"],
     "limit": "'"$LIMIT"'",
     "topics": ["follow-ups with firms I met", "demo scheduling"],
     "approve": { "first": 20 },
     "window": "2h",
     "expiresAt": "2027-01-31"
   }'
   ```

   ```text
   Would authorize agent_sales_lead to send as human_1
     Channels   mailbox_4 (email), channel_5 (LinkedIn)
     Volume     40 a day
     One-way    first 20 sends wait for your Approval, then a 2-hour window
     Floor      Delegated sending, Automation terms (LinkedIn)
   ```

4. To grant it, run the same call without `--try`. The [legal floor](/systems/legal-and-corporate/floor) rows it names wake and apply to every send.

5. To review the first sends, list your open [Approvals](/business/nouns/approval) and [approve](/business/nouns/approval/approve) or refuse each draft:

   ```bash
   npx startup-builder show '/approvals?where=mandate = mandate_7'
   ```

   A send outside the topics or over the volume becomes an Approval too, whatever the count.

6. To see everything sent in your name, read the Mandate's [Actions](/business/nouns/action):

   ```bash
   npx startup-builder show /mandates/mandate_7/actions --fields 'via,status,reason,by,for'
   ```

   ```text
   via         status    reason           by                 for
   mailbox_4   done                       agent_sales_lead   human_1
   channel_5   pending   awaitingAction   agent_sales_lead   human_1
   ```

7. To stop every send at once, [pause](/business/nouns/mandate/pause) the Mandate. Pending sends hold until you [resume](/business/nouns/mandate/resume):

   ```bash
   npx startup-builder do Mandate.pause --json '{"mandate":"mandate_7","reason":"Conference week; I reply myself."}'
   ```

8. To end the Mandate, [revoke](/business/nouns/mandate/revoke) it. New sends are refused, and the Channels stay connected for the next grant.

## Result
The Sales Lead agent sends as you on two Channels, within 40 sends a day and two topics. Every Action records the agent as `by`, you as `for`, and the Mandate.

When the same agent writes from the Startup's own Mailbox, it sends as itself and says it is an agent. The [delegated sending](/systems/legal-and-corporate/floor/delegated-sending) and [automation terms](/systems/legal-and-corporate/floor/automation-terms) rows govern sends in your name.

## Next steps
- [Personal agents](/agents/personal-agents): an agent that works for you across Startups.
- [Mandates and limits](/agents/mandates-and-limits): every bound a Mandate carries.
- [Conduct](/agents/conduct): how agents identify themselves when they speak.
