# get

URL: /business/nouns/handle/get · Id: `verb:Handle.get` · Call: `await $.Handle.get({ … })` (SDK) or the `do` tool at `https://api.sb/mcp`. Inputs says what to pass, Outputs what returns, When it waits who approves.

> Returns one Handle by id.

Get returns one [Handle](/business/nouns/handle) by id. It is inherited: every [Noun](/business/nouns/noun) has `get`, `list`, `create`, `update` and `delete`.

## Inputs
| Input | Type | Required | Description |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `id` | `string` | Yes | The id of the Handle. |
| `at` | `string` | No | A time or Version name: the record as it stood then. Unset: as it stands now. |

## Outputs
| Output | Type | Required | Description |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `handle` | [Handle](/business/nouns/handle) | Yes | The Handle. |

## Effects
- Reads only: it emits no Event and changes nothing.
- Read: `try`, `do`.

## Refuses when
| Check | Error | Fix | Then call |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| The key is valid, but its scopes do not allow this operation. | [`forbidden`](/code/api/errors/forbidden) | Use a key whose scopes cover the operation, or ask an owner of the namespace to grant them. | [Handle.get](/business/nouns/handle/get) |

## When it waits
Never: a read runs at once.
