> A folder in sites/ is one Site, its Pages, navigation and Brand, served on its Domains.

A folder in `sites/` is one [Site](/business/nouns/site): its [Pages](/business/nouns/page), navigation and [Brand](/business/nouns/brand), served on its [Domains](/business/nouns/domain). It implements the [Site](/products/site) product.

```text
sites/www/
├── site.mdx                 Domains, navigation, theme
├── layout.mdx               wraps every Page below
├── page.mdx                 /
├── pricing/page.mdx         /pricing
├── blog/[post]/page.mdx     /blog/:post
└── not-found.mdx            unmatched paths
```

## Reference
A Site is always a folder, even when the [Startup](/business/nouns/startup) has one. `site.mdx` is frontmatter only.

| Key | Type | Holds |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `domains` | hostnames | Where it serves; the first is canonical |
| `nav` | list | Navigation: label and path |
| `theme` | path | A [Theme](/business/nouns/theme) in `brand/`; the Brand's by default |
| `extends` | [Template](/business/nouns/template) id | The site Template it starts from |

## Examples
### Minimal
```mdx title="sites/www/site.mdx"
---
domains: [leaseline.com]
---
```

### Leaseline
```mdx title="sites/www/site.mdx"
---
domains: [leaseline.com, www.leaseline.com]
nav:
  - { label: Pricing, path: /pricing }
  - { label: Blog, path: /blog }
  - { label: Sign in, path: /app }
---
```

## What it builds
The [SiteBuilder](/code/builders/site) compiles the folder and publishes it with `Site.publish`.

- a `Site`, a `Page` per `page.mdx`, and one Page per member under a `[key]` folder
- a Markdown twin of every Page, and `/llms.txt`, `/agents.json` and `/sitemap.xml`
- generated `/terms` and `/privacy`
- the [Event](/business/nouns/event) `Site.published`

## Routing
A folder is a URL segment and `page.mdx` makes it public. [route segments](/code/file-conventions/route-segments) covers groups, keys, private folders and [Variants](/business/nouns/variant).

## Good to know
- Every Site reads the pricing section from published [Offers](/business/nouns/offer).
- The storefront and portal are Pages of the same Site; see [storefront](/products/site/storefront).
