> Resolve an incident restores the Interface, fixes the cause, and publishes a postmortem with the Change that prevents a repeat.

Resolve an incident restores the [Interface](/business/nouns/interface), fixes the cause, and publishes a postmortem with the [Change](/business/nouns/change) that prevents a repeat.

## Trigger
Runs on `Incident.created`. Part of [Incident response](/workflows/processes/incident-response), run by the [Engineering Team](/agents/engineering).

## Steps
1. Acknowledge the Incident and post it to the status page within 5 minutes.
2. Restore service, reverting the last Change when it is the cause.
3. Fix the cause in a new Change.
4. Write the postmortem and link the Change that prevents a repeat.
5. Resolve the Incident and update the status page.

## Outputs
- [Incident](/business/nouns/incident)
- [Change](/business/nouns/change)

## Example
Lesson booking fails after a deploy. The [Incident](/business/nouns/incident) is on the status page in 3 minutes, the [Change](/business/nouns/change) reverts, and the postmortem links the fixing Change.
