# Staff roles

> Staff roles names a default Agent for every Role in a new Startup and records which Roles a Human fills.

Staff roles names a default [Agent](/business/nouns/agent) for every [Role](/business/nouns/role) in a new [Startup](/business/nouns/startup) and records which Roles a [Human](/business/nouns/human) fills.

## Trigger
Runs on `Startup.created`. Part of [Staffing](/workflows/processes/staffing), run by the [People Team](/agents/people).

## Steps
1. Read the Roles the Startup’s Template includes.
2. Mint a default Agent for each Role.
3. Record the Roles a Human fills under the operating model.
4. Grant each Role its Permissions and Limits.

## Example
A new Startup gets a default Agent for each of its Roles, Sally in the [Sales Lead](/agents/sales/sales-lead) seat among them. Its founder is recorded as the Human in the [Founder](/agents/founding/founder) Role.
