> A schedule is a Trigger on time: a cadence such as daily or weekly, run at a set time on the Startup's clock.

A schedule is a [Trigger](/business/nouns/trigger) on time: a cadence, `hourly`, `daily`, `weekly`, `monthly`, `quarterly` or `yearly`, and an optional `at`. The time reads the [Startup](/business/nouns/startup)'s clock, such as `03:00` or `mon 09:00`, never a cron string.

## What you get
- 1 dunning pass every day for failed payments (Workflow)
- 1 reminder pass every day for unpaid invoices (Workflow)
- 1 Role review at nine on the first workday of each week (Workflow)
- 1 monthly close at the start of each month (Workflow)
- 1 restore drill and risk review every quarter (Workflow)

## Guides
- "Send me the Role review at the end of the week instead."
- "Pay contractors every week." [Pay suppliers](/workflows/processes/supplier-payouts/pay-suppliers) runs weekly at `fri 10:00`.
- "Each week, list the trials that end in the next seven days with no card on file." [Automate a workflow](/workflows/automate-a-workflow) covers it.

## How it works
Each time a schedule comes due, its [Workflow](/business/nouns/workflow) runs as a new [Action](/business/nouns/action). A [Task](/business/nouns/task) that repeats, such as a weekly call, holds its own `recurrence` and needs no Workflow. [Rhythm](/workflows/rhythm) lists every scheduled Workflow as the operating week, from the daily [Dunning](/workflows/processes/billing/dunning) to the quarterly [Drill a restore](/workflows/processes/continuity/drill-restore).
