Plans and tiers
How many plans to sell, what goes in each, when a free plan beats a trial, and how the pricing page presents them.
Each plan on your pricing page is one Offer. Start with one paid plan, add a second when buyers ask for more, and stop at three until a buyer asks for a fourth.
How many plans
| When | Plans | Why |
|---|---|---|
| First ten customers | One paid plan | Every sale teaches you the price; a menu hides the lesson |
| Buyers ask for more | A second, larger plan | The larger plan sets the anchor and lifts the average sale |
| Steady self-serve sales | Three: small, standard, large | Most buyers pick the middle; the large one sells the middle |
| A buyer needs its own terms | A private Offer per deal | Enterprise deals stay off the page |
Leaseline sells one plan, pro, at $29 a month for up to 200 units. Its second plan waits until a property manager with 1,000 units asks.
What goes in each
Split plans by who the buyer is, not by withholding the core. Every plan does the main job; larger plans add what larger buyers need.
| Belongs on larger plans | Belongs on every plan |
|---|---|
| Single sign-on, roles, audit history | The main job, done well |
| Higher Limits and an uptime promise | Export of the customer's own records |
| Priority support | Security fixes |
| Connections to the tools a team uses | The API |
Each row is an Entitlement, granted with Offer.grant. A customer outgrows a plan when it hits a Limit or needs a feature, never because a basic need was held back.
Free plan or trial
| Free plan | Trial | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | A $0 Offer, kept as long as the customer likes | The paid plan free for some days |
| Works when | Usage spreads by itself: developers, shared documents | The value shows inside two weeks |
| The cost | Serving people who never pay | Buyers who leave on day 15 |
Pick one. A free plan with a trial on top asks the buyer to decide twice. Free trials covers lengths and cards.
The pricing page
The pricing page renders every published Offer in order, and a plan comparison from their Entitlements. Highlight one plan as the one to pick, and add a yearly plan for a monthly or yearly toggle. Every change to an Offer reaches the page, checkout and the Portal together.
