Where StartupBuilder sits
App builders make the product, and StartupBuilder makes the business around it, with checkout, books, terms and agents.
bolt.new, Lovable, Replit and v0 build a site or an app. StartupBuilder builds the business wrapped around a product, whichever tool built it.
Two layers
The product is what a customer uses: its screens, its data and its code. An app builder turns a prompt into that layer.
The business is what the product needs to earn money and keep running. That means a Site on your Domain, payments through Stripe, sales, support, terms, books, and Agents in every Role. StartupBuilder turns one sentence into that layer, as records you change by asking.
Bring a product you built elsewhere
Point StartupBuilder at the app. It maps the app onto a Startup Template and builds the business around it. The app keeps running where it runs, and its guide lists what you get.
Turn the app I built with Lovable into a business.
Put a company around leaseline.app so it can sell.
I built this on Replit. Make it a real business.
curl -X POST https: //api.sb/ leaseline.app/ startups/ import \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $STARTUP_BUILDER_API_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/ json" \
-d '{"source": "https: //leaseline.app"}'
import { $ } from 'startup-builder'
const startup = await $.Startup.import({ source: 'https: //leaseline.app' })
npx startup-builder do Startup.import --json '{"source": "https: //leaseline.app"}'
{
"name": "do",
"arguments": {
"code": "return await $.Startup.import({ source: 'https: //leaseline.app' })"
}
}
Or build the product here
StartupBuilder builds the Product too: an app, an API, a site, a service, an agent you sell, or data. Products covers each kind. Either way, the business layer is the same, and so is every ask that changes it.
A business, not an app
A product without the business layer has no checkout, no invoices, no terms and nobody answering email. StartupBuilder starts there. Every guide ends with what it created, so you see the business it built.
