Answer a legal notice

Answer a legal notice logs a subpoena, summons or demand with its deadline, holds the records it names, and answers before the deadline.

Trigger

Runs on Thread.created where intake = 'legal-notices'. Part of Legal notices, run by the Legal Team.

Steps

  1. Log the notice as a Task with its answer deadline.
  2. Export and preserve every record the notice names, so nothing is deleted.
  3. Tell the Founder what arrived, what it asks and when it is due.
  4. Send the notice to outside counsel when the answer needs a lawyer.
  5. Render the answer from the held records and send it before the deadline.

Outputs

Example

A subpoena for one Customer’s records reaches legal@ in the morning. By the next day the records it names are preserved, the Founder knows the 14-day deadline, and outside counsel has the notice.
