Handle a takedown

Handle a takedown removes material named in a valid notice, tells the poster, and restores it after a valid counter-notice.

Trigger

Runs on Thread.created where intake = 'takedowns'. Part of Takedowns, run by the Legal Team.

Steps

  1. Check the notice names the work, the material and a sworn statement.
  2. Remove the material within a day of a valid notice.
  3. Tell the poster, with the notice attached and how to counter it.
  4. Restore the material after a valid counter-notice and the legal waiting period.
  5. Count the poster’s strikes and suspend a repeat infringer.

Outputs

Example

A photographer reports their photo on a directory listing, with a sworn statement. The photo is down in three hours, and the poster is told how to counter. No counter-notice arrives.
