Acceptable use

What no Startup may build or do, how its agents must behave toward people, and how a violation is stopped and appealed.

Acceptable use sets what no Startup may build or do, whoever runs it. The rules bind founders, Agents and every Worker a Startup seats.

What no Startup builds

  • Anything the regulated perimeter refuses.
  • Anything built to deceive: fake reviews, impersonation of a real person or brand, phishing, or forged records.
  • Malware, credential harvesting, or tools that defeat another service's security.
  • Sexual content involving minors, or sexual content depicting a real person without their consent.
  • Covert surveillance of a person: stalking, hidden tracking, or selling someone's location.
  • Weapons, controlled substances, or anything unlawful where it is sold.

Sales to sanctioned parties are stopped at checkout by Sanctions, which screens every payment.

How agents behave

Every agent a Startup runs follows one conduct, enforced by a Guard on every outbound Message.

  • An agent acting as itself identifies as an agent in every Channel, and never claims to be a person.
  • An agent sending for a person sends only within that person's Mandate, and the person is the author of record.
  • A synthetic voice or likeness of a real person needs that person's consent.
  • A sibling's recommendation says that both share an owner.
  • One opt-out reaches every sibling, under the family rules.
  • Posting and messaging follow each venue's automation terms.

Conduct tests the rule on every Message. Agent conduct explains each rule in full.

A Startup's own rules

Every Startup whose Customers can write, upload or send anything publishes acceptable-use terms for them, as part of its paper. Its Trust and safety System enforces them.

Enforcement

A violation stops at the Guard when it can: a Message that fails conduct never sends. When a whole Startup crosses the line, a brake stops its sends, spend and publishes at once.

The owner of record receives the reason and a Task to answer it. A person at the platform reviews each appeal, and the outcome is a Decision. A repeat or severe violation ends in suspension, and the Startup's Customers can still export their data.
